March 10th, 2014 – Europe’s flagship Mixed Martial Arts promotion, BAMMA, is proud to announce another Welterweight bout to the BAMMA 15 card, as Ryan Scope faces Ali Arish.

Undefeated poster boy, Ryan ‘Big Baby’ Scope, made his BAMMA debut at BAMMA 12 in Newcastle where he usurped unbeaten favourite, Luke Newman, via first round Triangle Choke. The fight card, hampered by injuries, saw a late reshuffle which pushed the Scope vs. Newman fight onto the 5* televised main card and the Channel 5 highlights.  The Sunderland native competed in his first MMA fight at the age of 17 and went on to attain an Amateur record of 8-2-0, before moving up to professional MMA to earn a current record of 8-0-0. Scope has achieved 3 wins via TKO (Punches), 4 by Rear-Naked Choke and 1 via Decision.  He has nailed 6 of his professional victories in the first round. Currently training with Colin ‘The Freakshow’ Fletcher, Phil De Fries and Ross ‘The Real Deal’ Pearson, Scope is a regular at the Alliance Training Center in San Diego; and is touted as one of the UK’s most talented upcoming fighters. His most recent outing was at Newcastle’s Made 4 the Cage in February, where he scored a 1:45 victory over Phil Flynn via TKO.

Iranian born and Manchester based, Ali Arish competes out of  Moss Side GnP and is currently ranked at number 4 in the UK and Ireland. Arish possesses a professional MMA record of 20-2-0, with 9 victories attained in the 1st round via KO, TKO and Submission; and 10 via Decision (9 Unanimous). Among these he holds a KO victory over BAMMA Lonsdale British Welterweight champion, Wayne Murrie.  Arish was pitted for rematch against Murrie at BAMMA 12 but was forced to withdraw from the fight due to injury. Arish is coming off a unanimous decision win over Jack Mason.

COLIN ‘FREAKSHOW’ FLETCHER VS TONY ‘LIONHEART’ HERVEY BAMMA 15

 Image

March 9th, 2014 – Colin ‘Freakshow’ Fletcher flies out of your nightmares to face former King of the Cage champion, Tony ‘Lionheart’ Hervey, in a  Lightweight showdown at BAMMA 15. The event, hosted by Europe’s flagship Mixed Martial Arts promotion, takes place at the Copper Box Arena in London’s Olympic Park on 5th April.

Evil clown, Colin Fletcher now holds a professional MMA record of 9-4.  Fletcher fought twice on BAMMA before entering the TV show contest, ‘The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes’. His one post-TUF fight with the UFC saw him go the distance with Mike Ricci at ‘UFC 158: St-Pierre vs. Diaz’ to lose on decision. He returned for BAMMA 13 to score a victory over Tim Newman, while BAMMA 14 saw Freakshow in a relentless back and forth battle against Mansour Barnaoui for the BAMMA World Lightweight title.

Tony ‘Lionheart’ Hervey fights out of the Stealth Squad in Michigan(USA), with a 16-16-0 record racked up since 2007. At the age of 17, Lionheart discovered a passion for MMA and by the age of 18 he was fighting. According to his management, the Lionheart represents “the paradigm of hard work, perseverance and hunger for the American dream. He has trained diligently and has been recognized for his indomitability to back down from the toughest fights once challenged.”

Former opponents have included Takanori Gomi, Pat Curran and Mike Ricci. Hervey is a former King of the Cage champion and has notably fought on Bellator.

Colin Fletcher said: “I’m really excited to be fighting in London and the venue looks great. More importantly I’m really looking forward to fighting Tony as he’s got a pretty unique style. I’ll come looking for the big finish so it should make a real fun fight. I recently lost my bath sponge so I’m going to punch a hole in his face and steal out his brain to use as a new one. With his brain and my Nicole Scherzinger body wash, I’ll  be justshhhheeeer-mazing.”

UK’s Davey Grant OUT of Saturday’s Fight Night 37 Card

The Ultimate Fighter Portraits - 2013

A bantamweight contest between Roland Delorme (9-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC) and “The Ultimate Fighter 18″ finalist Davey Grant (8-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) has been cancelled from the card.

A reason wasn’t immediately given. Both fighters made weight earlier today.

Just hours after the UFC Fight Night 37 weigh-ins, the Davey Grant vs. Roland Delorme fight has been canceled.

According to UFC president Dana White, Grant recently suffered a knee injury. He got an MRI to determine how serious it was, and on Friday, the UFC received the results and determined he was too injured to fight. White, who said Grant fought to remain on the card despite the injury, will pay both fighters their show money.

We wish Davey Grant the best of luck in healing fast and see him back in the octagon where he belongs as soon as he is healed.

JIMMY WALLHEAD SIGNS WITH CAGE WARRIORS

jimmy wallhead CW

Top English welterweight Jimmy Wallhead (25-8) has today joined Cage Warriors Fighting Championship’s stacked 170lbs division.

Wallhead, currently ranked as one of the UK’s top two welterweights, will compete exclusively for CWFC for a minimum period of 18 months after inking a five-fight deal with the promotion.

The 29-year-old began his career with Cage Warriors back in 2005, going on to compete under the CWFC banner on 15 occasions, more than any other fighter in the promotion’s 12-year history.

The latest addition to CWFC’s highly competitive welterweight stable, Wallhead will be aiming to stake a claim for a shot at championship gold when he makes his Cage Warriors return at CWFC 68 in Liverpool on May 3 against a soon-to-be-announced opponent.

“I’m extremely excited about my homecoming to Cage Warriors,” said Wallhead. “Cage Warriors was where I started and where I have some of the fondest memories from my career so far.

“I’m in the best mental and physical shape of my life, so to come back to Cage warriors to compete in a great talent-pool is an inspirational opportunity for me.

“My respect goes out to Graham Boylan and Ian Dean for creating an incredibly organised and focused promotion that continues to evolve and improve, making Cage Warriors an exciting prospect for any serious athlete.”

A judo black belt and veteran of 25 professional victories, 18 of which have come via stoppage, Wallhead holds notable wins over several fighters with UFC experience, including Igor Araujo, Matt Veach, Che Mills and Frank Trigg.

The Leicester native, who competed for Bellator on three occasions between 2010 and 2012, hasn’t been stopped in his last 20 outings, with his last loss inside the distance coming at the hands of current UFC star Dennis Siver back in 2006.

Cage Warriors CEO Graham Boylan said: “We’re very pleased to be welcoming Jimmy Wallhead back to the promotion. At 29, he’s in the prime of his career so he needs to be competing regularly against high-calibre opposition. That’s exactly what he’ll do here at Cage Warriors.”

See Jimmy Wallhead make his Cage Warriors Fighting Championship return on Saturday, May 3, at CWFC 68 at Liverpool’s Echo Arena! Tickets, priced from £30 plus booking fee, are available HERE.

Press Release.

JIMMY WALLHEAD DEPARTS FROM BAMMA

Jimmy Wallhead vs Frank Trigg Bamma 7

March 5th, 2014 – Fighter Jim Wallhead has decided not to renew his contract with BAMMA ahead of BAMMA 15. Fans had hoped there would be a re-match for the BAMMA World Welterweight title, but this now means new opportunities are on the horizon.

Since former team mates Jim Wallhead and Paul ‘Semtex’ Daley had vowed never to fight each other, Daley was excluded from title contendership. As Wallhead moves on, there are set be some exciting developments in the BAMMA Welterweight division.

Wallhead and Daley previously trained together at Rough House, but Daley now fights out of his own Spirit Dojo gym.

 BAMMA’s manager, Ashley Bothwell, said:

“We are sorry to see Jim go, as he was well loved at BAMMA as a true BAMMA icon. We wish him all the best in his future.”
