UFC 194: McGregor and Rockhold become New Champions

It only took Conor McGregor 13 seconds to become the new featherweight champion of the world, knocking out Jose Aldo with a straight left punch in doing so.
Meanwhile in the co-main event it took Luke Rockhold 4 rounds to dispatch of the former middleweight champion Chris Weidman via a TKO stoppage after putting on a classic brutal ‘Rockhold’ fight to become the new Middleweight Champion.

UFC 194 was finally upon us, where the only featherweight champion the UFC has ever known, Jose Aldo will be defending his title for the eighth time meeting the Interim title holder in that of Conor McGregor at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand.

It only took Conor McGregor 13 seconds to become the new featherweight champion of the world, knocking out Jose Aldo with a straight left punch in doing so. It was not going to be long time reigning champ Jose Aldo’s night, but the night belonged to New featherweight champion Conor Mcgregor.

Meanwhile in the co-main event it took Luke Rockhold 4 rounds to dispatch of the former middleweight champion Chris Weidman via a TKO stoppage after putting on a classic ‘Rockhold’ fight to become the new Middleweight Champion. 

Max Holloway showed why he is just getting better and better with each fight by gaining a clear dominant points wind over Jeremy Stephens.

The Ultimate Fighter Finale took place at the Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, Nevada and featured featherweight athletes Frankie Edgar and Chad Mendes in the Main event.

It was however Frankie Edgar who ‘answered’ everyone’s questions by getting the win in 2 minutes 28 seconds of the first round via knockout over Chad Mendes proving why he should be next in line for the featherweight title. 

The co-main event saw  Edson Barboza takes on Tony Ferguson and it was Tony Ferguson who gained the impressive win with his slick D’arce choke coming midway through the second round in this lightweight bout.

Evan Dunham took on Joe Lauzon but it was to be Evan Dunham’s night where he fought a better fight in out striking Joe Lauzon to take a unanimous points win in this all important lightweight bout.

The Ultimate Fighter Finale saw Ryan Hall face Artem Lobov in a three round one sided fight, which saw Ryan Hall nullify Artem Lobov’s power and dominate via his grappling skills, taking a unanimous decision to become season 22 The Ultimate Fighter.

It was to be a very dominant Rose Nanajunas who came away with the well-deserved win in the fifth round after several submission attempts throughout the fight.  It was however the first time we got to see Paige VanZant bloodied up but whom also showed why she should be in there in the first place.  VanZant to her credit survived many submission attempts from a dominant Namajunas through the five rounds until she was caught in rear naked choke and finally had to tap.

The co-main event saw Michael Chiesa take the win over Jim Miller in a lightweight bout, while lightweight newcomer Sage Northcutt dispatched Cody Pfister via a guillotine early on in the second round. 

UK’s Danny ‘Hot Chocolate’ showed why he belongs in the UFC after his 2 min 26 second first round win over Nathan Coy.
